He was predeceased by: his parents, Merrill and Eleanor; his former wife Marlys; and his son-in-law Stephen Goethke. He is survived by: his wife Ida; his sister Nancy Tschimperle; his children, Susan Goethke, Jill Berndt (Greg), Robert (Karen Popehn) and Michael (Nicole); and his stepchildren, Bill Walker (Elayna), Tina Indrehus (John) and Barbara Hurd. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Excelsior American Legion Post 259 Baseball.
