He was predeceased by: his parents, Hjalmer Nikunen and Mayme Nikunen; his siblings, Raymond, Art, Roger, Ralph, Shirley Torma, Ruth Cobb and Muriel Salo; and his father-in-law Eli.
He is survived by: his wife Darlene Hietala; his friends, Floyd and Larry; his granddaughter Kaity; his children, Tom Nikunen (Jen Pederson), Lori Johnson (Ryan) and Shelley Nikunen; his grandchildren, Kaityln, Trever (Jen), Kayla, T. J. (Roxanna Haakenson), Megan, Daelyn, Colten, Sofia, Ryanna and Baby Ozzy; his great grandchildren, Nicole, Mason, Joey and Grace; and his siblings, Marilyn Jones, Patricia Hedman and Richard Nikunen. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
