He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Shimpa and Marie Louise Moser Shimpa; his former wives, Ramona "Dollie" Shimpa and Carol Olson; and his siblings, Joe Shimpa, Frank Shimpa and Frances Osowski.
He is survived by: his children, Welding, Transystems, Paradis Trucking, Brooks, Renae Sistad (Dan) of Fosston, Robert Shimpa (Margaret) of Hutchinson, Julie Gund of Lumberton, TX and Joy Shimpa of Crookston; and his grandchildren, Crystal Piekarski (Doug), Kelsey Perrine (Levi), Brandon Shimpa (Kirsten), Jacob Shimpa (Fiance Gabby), Natalie Shimpa of Jeremy Shimpa, Derik Gund, Langdon Gund, Phelen Larson and Maleigha Larson. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren.
