He was predeceased by: his parents, Marlow Samp and Verle Samp (Hungerford); and his brothers, Thomas Samp, Lee Samp, Danny Samp and Craig Samp.

He is survived by: his wife Diane Samp of Erhard; his children, Stacy Carlson (Troy Poach), Marty Carlson and Cory Samp (Reyna); his grandchildren, Jed Carlson, Oakley Carlson, Ellie Carlson, Sydney Samp and Sully Samp; and his sister Shelly Day. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

I remember as we grew up when he taught us all his wise words about farming and the cattle. (In a new language) Randy was thoughtful. encouraging and a real delight to see and hold conversation with. Randy's smile n many other things will be forever treasured by many. I feel I was very fortunate knowing Randy.”
