With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joan Kohan of Erhard, Minnesota, born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on October 26, 2024 at the age of 76. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband James Kohan; her parents, William Hankel and Louise Short; her stepfather Richard Short; and her brothers, Bobby Hankel and William Short.
She is survived by: her children, Gretchen Kohan (Joseph Lutton) of New York, NY and Eliot Kohan (Lindsay DeVore) of St Paul, MN; her grandsons, Harrison Kohan-Lutton and Simon Kohan; her sister Mickey Short of Fergus Falls, MN; her sisters-in-law, Nancy Jensen (John) of Minneapolis, MN and Cheryl Kohan of Oswestry, U. K.; and her aunt Dorothy Hankel of Nevada. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to "Friends of the Boundary Waters" (friends-bwca.org) or "Hope Lodge Minneapolis".
