He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Ahlstrand and Gertrude Ahlstrand; his brothers, Earl and Herman Jr. (Lillian); and his son William Jr..

He is survived by: his mother-in-law Lillian Aho; his sisters, Betty Mather and Dorothy Maki; and his children, Yvonne Trugman and Maralee Gazelka. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchildren.
