It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Carol Lynne Helen Skala in Ely, Minnesota, who passed away on February 11, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Orville Griese and Thelma Griese (Derus); her brother Noel Griese (Kathie); and her brother-in-law Frank Skala. She is survived by: her husband Joe; her daughters, Vicky Cherne (Paul) of Shoreview, MN, Valerie Walker (Bob) of Elburn, IL and Sarah Skala (Stephen Brandt) of Ely; her grandchildren, Tony Cherne (McKenzie Hofmann), Mary Schoenfelder (Garett) and John Cherne; her great grandchild Greta Schoenfelder; and her close friend Vicki Wagner of Ely. She is also survived by cousins, a nephew and four nieces.
