He was predeceased by: his parents, Aloysius "Aloys" Johanning and Matilda "Tillie" Johanning (Fink); his stepfather Frank Svehla; his siblings, Elizabeth and Marvin Johanning; and his sisters-in-law, Karen, Verla and Helene "Curly" Johanning.
He is survived by: his former wife Patricia Birkett; his children, Carmen Johanning-Braley (Mark) of Richmond, VA and Shane Johanning; his grandchildren, Derek Braley of Richmond, VA and Rachel Braley Guzman (Isaac) of Richmond, VA; his great grandchildren, Eli, Aella and Jonah Guzman; and his brothers, Ron Johanning (Dolly) of Estero, FL, Loren Johanning (Connie), Tom Johanning (Shirley) of Waubay, SD and Roger Johanning of Waubay, SD. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews.
