He was predeceased by: his parents, Klaus Westen and Grace Van Westen (Krull); and his siblings, Hilbert Van Westen, Martha Doeden, Russel Van Westen, Raymond Van Westen, Hilda Klaassen and Betty Abuhl.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Klaassen; his sons, Keith Van Westen (Caroline Marion) of Luverne and Kevin Van Westen (Kathy) of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Sarah Van Westen, Justin Van Westen (Amanda) and Brandon Van Westen (Elizabeth Soukup); his great grandchildren, Megan and Daniel Van Westen; and his siblings, Inez Rogers of Owatonna and Shirley Heikes (Howard) of Mantorville, Minnesota.. He is also survived by his sisters, other relatives and friends.
