He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Gaustad and Selma "Sally" Gaustad (Ronning); his wife Loretta Gaustad; his brothers, Delvern Gaustad and Gene Gaustad; and his grandchildren, Cameron Sandahl and Heidi Lindenfelser.
He is survived by: his children, Carter Sandahl (Christine) of Careywood, ID, Gary Hallman (Jill) of Rochester, MN, Jeffery Gaustad (Debra) of Puyallup, WA, Janice Weinhandl (Thomas) of Henning, MN, Jon Gaustad (Ann) of Underwood, MN, Jay Gaustad of Henning, MN and Jayne Cekalla (Ronnie) of Little Falls, MN; and his sister Sandy Brill of New York Mills, MN. He is also survived by eighteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
