He was predeceased by: his parents, Teunis DeGroot and Martha DeGroot (Kallemeyn); his wife Johanna "Jo" DeKruif; his siblings, Margaret DeGroot, Alice Sas (Wilbert) and Hemet DeGroot (Jane); and his nephew Teunis "Tony" DeGroot.
He is survived by: his children, Leslie DeGroot (Sandy) of Lake Wilson, MN, Arvin DeGroot (Sandy) of Sacred Heart, MN, Karla Baumgartner (William) of Sioux Falls, SD and Charlene Sliter (Gary) of Princeton, MN; his brother Lawrence DeGroot (Johanna) of Aurora, SD.; and also Chandler. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren.
