He was predeceased by: his parents, Teunis and Elizabeth (Nicolay); his former wife Janette Gelling of Springfield, SD.; his granddaughter Tonya Vanden Berg; and his siblings, Henry, Art, Rich, Jim, Jake, Grace Schuit and Henrietta Elbers.
He is survived by: his wife Beth Fey (De Boer); his children, Duane Vanden Berg (Rosann) of Edgerton, Peter Vanden Berg of Edgerton, Joann Schelhaas (Darwin) of Edgerton, Melvin (Brenda) of Pipestone, Gene Vanden Berg (Thelma) of Spokane, WA and Janette Clausen (Grant) of Schleswig, Iowa; his stepchildren, Rick Fey (Karen) of Edgerton, Roxanne Nieboer (Al) of Kalamazoo, MI, Randy Fey (Jan) of Edgerton, Roll Fey (Cheryl) of Hurst and Rosemari Kroll (Dennis) of Edgerton; his sister Johanna Sankey; and his sisters-in-law, Tiena Zondervan and Wilma Wissink. He is also survived by friends, family, and relatives, including the many grandchildren.
