He is survived by: his wife Jean Schiefelbein (Maas); his children, Cathy Layne (Stephen), Ellie Lanners (Bruce) and Mark Schiefelbein (Renee); his grandchildren, Casey Botz (Ana), Bonnie Layne, Nicholas Layne, Mason Layne, Nicole Wehri (Nathan), Natalie Merickel (Luke) and Grady Schiefelbein; and his great grandchildren, Avery and Emerson Wehri.
