He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Ernest McFarland and Myrtle McFarland; his spouse Thief River Falls; his son Lance; his brothers, Vernon (Ruby), Arlan (Esther) and Roma McFarland; his son-in-law Randy Ness; his pet Max; his daughters, Gwen Lappegaard (Terry) and Kim Ness (Bob Spangenberg); his daughter-in-law DeeDee; his brother Weldon; and his siblings-in-law, Sandra Schmidt (John) and John Morberg (Mary). He was also cherished by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Thief River Falls American Legion Post #117 or a charity of your choice.
