He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Pietila and Hilda Pietila; his siblings, Wayne and Marilyn Kangas; his daughter Trudee Johnson; and his granddaughter Chelsea Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Britt; his children, Brenda Heavirland (Skeeter) of Chisholm, Todd Pietila (Aimee) of Brainerd and Tiffany Zieroth (Bill Bean) of Twig; and his son-in-law Moose Johnson of Royalton. He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Dougherty Funeral Home (600 E 2nd St, Duluth, MN 55805). A memorial service was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
