He was predeceased by: his wife Jean Waite Whiteman; and his children, Peter Leo Whiteman, Lynn Frances Whiteman and Marie Louise Ronning. He is survived by: his parents, Lester Whiteman and Grace Whiteman (Dawald); his sister Mary Lou Smith (Bill) of Denver, Colorado; his children, David Whiteman (Lin), Sarah Fehr (Bob), Ann Hastings (Gary), Carol Netzel (Terry), Frank Whiteman (Julie O'Leary) and Steven Whiteman (Jacqi); and his stepchildren, Jeffrey Johnson (Joy), Steven Johnson (Sara), Julie Stafford and David Johnson (Irene). He is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to University for Seniors or the Benedictine Living Community of Duluth Foundation.
