She was predeceased by: her parents, William Kenneth MacAskill and Dorothy Mayadelle (Peirce); her brother Robert MacAskill; and her granddaughter Rebecca Perrault Conner (Becky). She is survived by: her spouse John F. Thorene; her children, Bill Higgins (Sue) of Duluth, Kim Higgins (Wendy) of Rockford, IL, Ken Higgins (Kristine) of Menominee Falls, WI, Dorie Gilbert (Wayne) of Eagan, Richard Higgins (Jo Haubrich) of Duluth, Karen Saaf of New Hope, John Jr. Thorene (Kathy) of Duluth, Michael Thorene of Duluth, Wendy Johnson of Duluth, Peggy Thorene of Duluth and Patti Davey of Duluth; and her granddaughter Becky. She is also survived by grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren.
Her deep love for John culminated in 10 years of devoted care to the cruel infirmities of Alzheimer's disease.
