He was predeceased by: his parents, Janis Zarins and Biruta Zarins; his brother Peter; and his nephew Alex Sahlberg. He is survived by: his wife JoAnn; his siblings-in-law, Bea Zarins and John Sahlberg; his niece Lisa Rinde; his nephew Peter Sahlberg; and his great-niece Alexa Rinde.
