He is survived by: his children, Toni Kasell (Tom) of Duluth, Michael Messina (Mary) of Maple Lake and Mark Messina of Duluth; his grandchildren, Brian Hamski (CedRiece), Steven Hamski, Michael R. Messina, Anthony Messina, Dominic Messina, Joshua Messina, Derek Messina (Katherine) and Stephanie Messina-Hernandez (Paulino); and his great grandchildren, Anthony Messina-Hernandez and Pierce Hamski.
