He was predeceased by: his wives, Vivian Harstad Giese and Lorraine Bakken Giese; and his sister Dorothy Davis. He is survived by: his children, Rodney Giese (Linda) of Donnelly, Sharon Dohlen (Gary) of Morris, Becky Hennen (Jim) of Waconia and Lori Breecher (David) of Hudson, WI; his grandchildren, Rachel Emmert (Andy), Erik Giese (Nichole), Angie Evink (Brent), Nichole Asmus, Jacob Dohlen (Krystal), Ashley Dohlen, Brittney Jackman (Joe), Kyle Hennen (Maddy Weckworth), McKenzie Undestad (Jake), Allie Hennen, Nyles Breecher, Brandon Breecher, Haley Breecher, Emily Breecher and Jaden Breecher; his great grandchildren, Ethan, Megan Emmert, Tyler, Breanna, Caleb, Faith Giese, Chase, Cole, Ava Evink, Kaitlyn Asmus (Tucker Picht), Lea Asmus, Justin Asmus, Jace Dohlen, Quinley, Jett and Jameson Jackman; his great great grandchild Easton Asmus; and his close friend Agnes Kruize. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
