He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Safar and Lillian [Olson] Safar; and his sisters, Arlene Engelmeier and Elaine Luptak. He is survived by: his children, Nicole [Darin] Heston, Carrie [Chris] LeDoux, Carmen [Austin] Laeger, Matthew [Tiffany] Safar, Joshua [Rachel] Safar and Zachariah [Kathryn] Safar; his wife Michele; and his siblings, Sharon Wischnak, Bev Andersen, Ronald Safar (Betty), Joseph Jr. Safar (Joan) and Duane Safar (Barb). He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church (300 Central St E, Detroit Lakes, MN 56501). A funeral service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Friday, February 14th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Ogema Community Cemetery.
