He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert J. W. and Dorothy Ione Wendt (Carter); his sister Jill; his mother-in-law Ruby; and his close friend Dave.

He is survived by: his wife Bonnie Jonas; his daughters, Robyn Engel, Terri Eckhoff (Ryan) and Stacie Eickhoff (John); his stepdaughter Sara Leitheiser (Wayne); his grandchildren, Christian, Dylan, Tiffany, Loren, Carter and Ben; his stepgrandchildren, Alysa (Corey), Justin, Megan, Danielle (Alex) and Jordan; his great grandchildren, Thomas and Robert; his stepgreat-grandchildren, Rayne, Jayden, Asher, Paisley, Logan and Hallie; his siblings, Susan Stai (Dennis), Janie Hulett (Mike), Sally Jepson (Dennis), Paul Wendt (Carla), Danny Wendt (Sande) and Holly Skillings (Bobby); his siblings-in-law, Steven Frenzel (Kay) and Bev Palmer; and his uncle Dewayne. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
