It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mathew John Mess Jr. (Detroit Lakes, Minnesota), who passed away on September 9, 2024, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his siblings, Bonnie Lou, John Mess (Jack) and Robert McElhaney (Bob). He is survived by: his wife Sandy Mess (Gjerde); his children, Sara Boyum (Nate), Shannon Harriger (Keith), Kristina Cirks (Scott) and John Mess; his stepdaughter Amanda Wurst (Jesse Sherman); his grandchildren, Jackson, Vincent, Isabel Boyum, Maxwell, William Dahms, Simone, Finn Cirks, Ezra and Isla Mess; his stepgrandchildren, Emelia, Jantzen, Estelle, Hudson Harriger and Gretta Wurst; and his brothers, David Mess and James McElhaney (Jim). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and friends.
