She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Elden Gjersvig and Thelma Gjersvig (Nyland) of Detroit Lakes; her former husband Stephen Clayton Burhans; her husband Steve; her sons, Brian Burhans (Jessica) of Detroit Lakes, MN, Chad Burhans (Jessica) of Fargo, ND and Daniel (Brigid) of Hastings, MN; her brothers, James Gjersvig (Susan) and Robert Gjersvig (Sue) of Detroit Lakes; her sisters-in-law, Vickie Cote (Ben) of Fergus Falls, MN and Cheryl Gray (Jim) of Covina, CA; her grandchildren, Logan, McKenna, Brock, Brodie, Brenna, Kieran and Kellan; her stepfather Merl Mitchell; her brother Dudley Gjersvig; her siblings-in-law, Charlotte Gjersvig and John Burhans; and her niece Amber Gray. She was also cherished by aunt and uncles, several nieces and nephews and extended family.

In Lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley and Sanford Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, ND.
