He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Lorenz and Eva Lorenz (Gellner); and his sister Jean Schneider. He is survived by: his wife Myrna Hooey; his children, Randy Lorenz (Lori) of Minnetonka, MN, Sandy Kloster (Jay) of Colorado Springs, CO and Todd Lorenz (Lisa) of Colorado Springs, CO.; his grandchildren, Meghan Lorenz (Ben), McKenna Lorenz, Paul Kloster (Ashley), Laurel Kloster, Nick Lorenz and Corey Lorenz; his great grandchild McKinley Lorenz; his siblings, Francis Lorenz (Carol) of Langdon, ND and Sharon Johnson (George) of Langdon, ND; and his sister-in-law Doris Nelson of Albany, OR..

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the Detroit Lakes Fire Department at 1025 Roosevelt Ave. Detroit Lakes, MN 56501 or to Holy Rosary Knights of Columbus at 1043 Lake Ave. Detroit Lakes, MN 56501.
