He is survived by: his wife Leann Siegersma; his children, Chad Burgwald (Tammy) of Carver, Tonya Merta (Bryan) of Goose Creek, SC and Kristi Layon (Chad) of Cloquet; his siblings, Thomas Burgwald of Ironton, Cecila Burgwald of Ironton and Katherine LaForce (LeRoy) of Little Falls; and his grandchildren, Emily Merta (Justin), Alyssa, Tanner Merta, Jackson, Gavin Burgwald, Finn, Abel, Hartlee Layon, Lexi Sewall (Jared), Kiya and Onnaka Danielson.
Visitation was held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Koop Funeral Home (32 E Main St, Crosby, MN 56441). The military honors was held on Thursday, December 26th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery (15550 MN-115, Little Falls, MN 56345).
