It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of James Melcher of Deer Creek, Minnesota, who passed away on January 14, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Melcher and Mary Ann Melcher (Sapa); his in-laws, George and Ethel Loher; his siblings, Patrick, Marlene (Iverson) and Carole (Matejka); and his brothers-in-law, William "Bill" Iverson and Tom Matejka.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Ann Loher of Deer Creek; his daughter Laurie Helmrichs (Milo) of Rozet, WY; his granddaughter Megan Tripp (Ashley) of Moorhead; and his sister Patricia (Montez) of Edina.

A celebration of life was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Open House. The military honors was held on Thursday, January 23rd 2025 at 7:30 PM at the Deer Creek Community Center (106 Main Ave E, Deer Creek, MN 56527). Visitation was held on Friday, January 24th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 11:00 AM at the Holy Cross Catholic Church (54216 Co Hwy 148, Menahga, MN 56464).
