He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Greenwaldt and Marie Greenwaldt (Oldenburg); his parents-in-law, Frank and Marie Carlson (Peggy); his brothers-in-law, David Brasel, Donald Stelzner and Lloyd Carlson; and his nephew Timmy Brasel.

He is survived by: his wife Fran; his children, Caryl Stave (Randy), Marilyn Snyder (Vern), Joni Birch (Larry) and Bill Greenwaldt; his sisters, Barbara and Donna; and his sister-in-law Marcia. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
