He was predeceased by: his parents, William Swarts and Hazel Swarts; his wife Sarah; and his aunt Susan Elizabeth Swarts (Betty). He is survived by: his children, Nancy Fuenffinger (Andy), Anne Swarts (David) of Richfield, Sarah Browne (Dennis) of Excelsior and William Swarts (Ciara) of Minneapolis; his grandchildren, Andrew (Luisa), Elizabeth (Kyle), Joel, Henry, Mary, Dennisia, Sylvia, Leo, Olive and Hazel; and his great grandchildren, Lyla and Maci.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Trinity Episcopal Church, Episcopal Relief and Development, and the Excelsior Men's Garden Club.
