He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Michael Schmitt and Elizabeth Schmitt; his spouse Mary Dhaene Vermeire; his brother Wilfred Schmitt (Gerri); his friend Esther; and his siblings, Theodore, Arnold, Kate, Susan, Cecelia and Laura. He was also cherished by many nieces and nephews.
