He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank Sandstede and Eleanor Sandstede (Johnson); his wife Susan Johnson Krueger; his mother-in-law Frances Johnson; his brothers-in-law, Donald Rettman and Loren Stueven; and his nephew Lucas Johnson.
He is survived by: his former wife Joan Stueven; his stepson Pete; his daughters, Stephanie Smith (Christopher) and Jill Wedel (Jason); his stepchildren, Sara Krueger (Jeff Olson) and Peter Krueger (Sheree); his grandchildren, Andrew, Joshua Smith, John, Luke Wedel, Maxwell, Grace, Jack Olson, Megan and Tommy Krueger; his siblings, Georgia Rettman, Neal Sandstede and Robert Sandstede (Janet Valen); and his brother-in-law Richard Johnson (Gail). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to go to the Dassel Area Historical Society or Gethsemane Lutheran Church of Dassel.
