He was predeceased by: his parents, Edwin Schafer and Laura Schafer (Pfeifer); his brother Gilman Schafer; his daughter Dottie Lee Schafer; and his grandson Gregory Trautman.
He is survived by: his wife Suzanne Schafer of Darwin, MN; his children, Dulles Schafer, Dorle Blackwell (James), Lauri Dallmann and Randy Schafer; his stepsons, John McClure, Bryan McClure (Mary) and Scott McClure (Tina); and his sister Diann Schafer (Many). He is also survived by 13 Grandchildren; 6 Great-great-grandchildren.
