He was predeceased by: his parents, Arnold Erlandson (Peggy) and Ethel Gunvalson; his stepfather Victor Gunvalson; and his sisters, Marilyn Schreiner and Kathy Scheuss.

He is survived by: his brothers, David (Ann) of Brainerd, Kenneth (Janet) of Alexandria and Clayton (Annette) of Monticello. He is also survived by 13 nieces and nephews.
