He was predeceased by: his parents, George Trefethen and Rose Trefethen (Brosseau); his wife Joyce Anderson; and his sisters, Phyllis Trefethen and Jeanne Mika.
He is survived by: his children, David Trefethen (Jane) of Monticello, Thomas Trefethen (Helen) of Webb Lake, WI, John Trefethen (Kathleen) of Eden Prairie and Patricia Goke (James) of St. Cloud. He is also survived by four grandchildren, four great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
