He was predeceased by: his parents, Erling "Butch" Melbye and Noella Melbye (Cardinal); his grandfather Ralph Melbye; his brother Carl; his grandparents, Emma Melbye, Arthur and Alice Cardinal; his parents-in-law, Francis and Fern Bergeron; and his brothers-in-law, Mitchell "Mick" and Jeffrey Bergeron.
He is survived by: his wife Paulette Fay Bergeron; his sons, Will of Courtland, VA, Jake (Kendra) of Peoria, AZ and Sam (Marley) of Crookston, MN; his grandchildren, Natasha, Isabelle, Madelynn, Jameson and Brody; his siblings, Allen Melbye (Fern), Vicki Melbye of Willmar, MN, Mary Jo Eastes (Rick) of Visalia, CA, Mike Melbye of Warroad, MN and Lori Melbye of Crookston; and his sister-in-law Maribeth Melbye of Crookston. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family, and a host of friends.
