He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Ecklund and Elaine Ecklund (Strong); his son Michael; his aunt Elsie Sorsoleil; his parents-in-law, Leo and Dorothy Marcotte; and his sister-in-law Marjorie "Midge" Smithberger.
He is survived by: his children, Dawn of Crookston, MN, Mark Ecklund of Crookston, MN and Tom Skjei of Crookston, MN; his daughter-in-law Gayle Ecklund of Baudette, MN; his grandchildren, Austin Skjei, Hilary Palmer (Brady) of Sharon, ND, Amanda Larson (Nolan) of Eagan, MN, Samantha Ecklund (C. J. Davis) of Baudette and Wyatt Ecklund (Ashley Pelland) of Duluth, MN; his great grandchildren, Owen, Harrison, Quinn Palmer, Koltlynn, Charlize, Hadley Davis and Bauer Ecklund; his sister Carol Malone of Mankato, MN; his brother-in-law Richard Smithberger; his wife Pat of New Brighton, MN.; and also Elsie Sorsoleil. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews; many friends.
