He is survived by: his wife Carol Jean Edna Carlson of Dorothy's Catholic Church; his children, Lisa Thoreson of Grand Forks, ND, Richard Abeld of Crookston, John Abeld of Crookston, Tammy (Billy Dickerson) of Crookston and Jeff Abeld of Crookston; his son-in-law Bill Amiot; his grandchildren, Christopher Amiot, Ashley Berry (Michael), Garrett, Gabby Thoreson, Katie Ann, Samantha, Robert, Laney Dickerson, Michael Abeld (JayDee), Justin, Marissa Abeld, Brady Ronnie, Stella, Jonathan, Ryan, Thomas, Allison Abeld, Valerie and Lilah Borges; his siblings, James (Carol Abeld), Mary Lizotte of Eloy, AZ, Jean E. (Rick McAndrew) and Carol (Gordy Royal); and his siblings-in-law, David Carlson of Crookston, Dennis, Jo Carlson of Hurst, TX, Larry Middleton of Hillsboro, MO and Doug Lizotte. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
