He was predeceased by: his parents, John Carey and Bessie Carey (Cash); his wives, Lois Utzinger Carey and Elizabeth Folson Carey; his brothers, Ronald Carey and Andrew "Andy" Carey; his stepchildren, Brent Folson and Sandra Cone; and his stepson-in-law Gene Olson.
He is survived by: his sister-in-law Marlys Carey of Moorhead, MN; his niece Janna Carey; his nephews, Scott (Cheryl), David, Dan, Jeffrey (Robin) and Brian Carey; his stepchildren, Cynthia Olson, Brian Folson (Joyce), Barry Folson (Ann) and Sharon Moore (Trent); his stepson-in-law Marty Cone; and his close friend Carol Weber of Crookston. He is also survived by several step-grandchildren from his wife.
