He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Smith and Ina Smith; his great grandchild Kaleb Anderson; and his siblings, Dora Heaser, Hazel Line, Geraldine Kurkinen, Marjorie Ihrke, Eileen Walters, Delores Kisler, Garld, Erwin and Donald.
He is survived by: his wife Ruth Maki; his children, Dick (Terry) of Cromwell, Lee Ann Anderson (Guy) of Cromwell, Bill (Kay) of Cromwell, Peter (Shawna) of Cromwell, Betsy Smith of Cloquet, Nancy Korbi (Dick) of Esko, Pauly Granholm (Bucky) of Kettle River and Dale (Tammi) of Mansfield, Texas; and his brother Eugene Smith (Pat) of Cloquet. He is also survived by 27 grandchildren and 43 great grandchildren.
