He was predeceased by: his siblings, Walter David Jr. and Mary Jane; his nephew Robert Allen; his niece Alison Lucy; and his parents, Walter Sr. Pettit and Julia Pettit.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley; his children, David Allen Pettit (Nancy) and Leanne Obernolte; his grandchildren, Joylyn, Benjamin, Allyson and Carter; his nieces, Susan, Debra, Julia and Lori; and his grandchild Cater.
