She was predeceased by: her parents, Eric Ausen and Viola Ausen (Reese); and her husband Leslie Honstad. She is survived by: her daughters, Jennifer Hamilton (Robert), Jessica Wegmann (Bouch Nessar) and Janelle Bertelson (Josh); her grandchildren, Alex, Amber Hamilton, Audrey Wegmann, Jonathan and Jenna Bertelson; her siblings, Elaine Seath, Virginia Kormann, Nancy Carlson (Bill), JoAnne Hale (Jim), Linda Honstad (Steve Tyacke), John Ausen (Ann Conger), Bob Ausen (Sherry) and David Ausen (Becky); and her son-in-law Tim Wegmann.
It was Sonja's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to "West Freeborn Lutheran Church" and sent to Sonja Honstad Memorial Tribune, c/o Jessica Wegmann 7312 Cornelia Drive Edina, MN 55435.
