He is survived by: his girlfriend Kristi Strecker; his pet Meatball; his stepchildren, Zachary (Amber), Nick (Michelle), Hannah (Alec), Ginny (Jordan) and Joie; his grandchildren, Jace, Aida, Calvin, Oakley and Tatum; his parents, Richard Ames (Mary Lou) and Lucille Ames; and his siblings, Lisa Bullerman, David (Elizabeth), Joseph Ames (Kate) and Anthony McFey (Melissa). He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other loved ones and good friends.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to the Home for Life Animal Sanctuary, in honor of his soft spot for four legged friends.
