He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen Sleypen (John) and Bob Edstrom; his parents-in-law, Mary and Ed Kolinski; and his son-in-law Dwain Russell.

He is survived by: his wife Annette Edstrom; his children, Linda Russell, Kim Edstrom and Sandy Street (Andy); and his grandchildren, Derek (Jill), Dustin Russell, Samantha, Emma Street, Rylan and Haisley Russell.
