He was predeceased by: his parents, Dean Mapes and June Mapes (Kottschade); and his siblings, Kenneth and Helen. He is survived by: his sister Verna; his sister-in-law Gail; his nieces and nephews, Erin and Katie; and his granddaughter Ellie.
