He was predeceased by : his parents, Lloyd Cheney and Eddie Belle Cheney; his wife Shirley Ann Miller; his son Scott; and his siblings, Lloyd, James, Gerald, Dorothy Laakkonen, Iva Dantes, Marge Wardas and Ruth Stupica.

He is survived by : his children, Wayne Cheney (Barb) of Angora, Tina Sklors (Brian) of Saint Michael, Kim Dertinger (Greg) of Gilbert, Kenneth Cheney of Virginia and Jillene Clapsaddle (Herb Jr.) of Gilbert; his brother-in-law Pete Miller of Virginia; his grandchildren, Wayne (Breann), Lisa (Mike), James, Ryan (Brittany), Nicole (David), Breanne, Mykell (Jesse), Alexandria (Kyle), Christian (Melinda), Noel (Jesse), Cory (Christie) and Isaac; his great grandchildren, Hailey, Ian, Mykenna, Abigail, Jameson, Arielle, Anna Belle, Alec, Matthew, Sarah, Kara, Coryn, Ashley, Andrew and Xander; and his great great grandchild Tabias. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Cook Community Center (510 Gopher Dr, Cook, MN 55723). A celebration of life will be held on Thursday, July 11th 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
