With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Frederick Elmer Halonen of Cokato, Minnesota, born in Linton, North Dakota, who passed away on March 22, 2023 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Halonen and Tyyne Halonen (Oikelmus); his wife Thelma Marian Haataja; his sons, Anthony, Brent and Blair; his son-in-law Ronald Corbin; his stepmother Anna Jurmu; his siblings, Carl (Eunice), Judith Mattila (Mervin), Gladys Kariniemi (Paul), Mildred Raisanen (Paul), Paul, Edward, George Douglas and Sharen Anderson; his brothers-in-law, Walter Muhonen, Ernest Lehtola and Paul Ylitalo; his stepbrothers, Clifford Jurmu (Carol) and Robert Jurmu; and his parents-in-law, Gustav and Anna Haataja.
He is survived by: his children, Peter (Debra), John (Becky), Tyyni Salmen-Osage (Duane), Thea Corbin-Cokato, Gregg (Suzanne), Tamara Pietila (Jeffrey), Teresa Johnson (Kenneth), Anna Aho-Cokato (David), Avis Sheffer (Eric), Scott (Kathleen) and Cokato; his daughters-in-law, Kristin Halonen-Cokato and Julie Impola (Arvi); and his siblings, Sylvia Muhonen, Virginia Lehtola, Raymond Halonen (Betty), Lillian Ylitalo, Donald Halonen (Florence), Lorraine Hilluka, Connie Halonen, Martha Halonen, Jerry Anderson and Miriam Jurmu. He is also survived by 101 grandchildren, 246 great-grandchildren.
