He is survived by: his wife Phyllis; his children, Kristine Nelson (Wayne), Mark (Laurie), Paul (Donna) and David Avenson (Kim); his grandchildren, Laura, Ryan and Jacob; and his great grandchildren, Olive, Gus and Aven.
