He was predeceased by: his mother Marilyn Carpenter; and his grandchildren, Makiiy Diver, Asiniiwikwezens Barney and Niinimoshe Barney. He is survived by: his father Melvin Defoe; his wife Robin Diver; his children, Tim Boberg, Stuart Diver, Brook Gabrielson (Chris), Christina Diver, Joshua Barney, Dominic Diver, Ashley Barney, Jacob Barney (Brooklyn) and Jordan Diver; his brothers, William Carpenter and Michael LaFave; his uncle Charlin Diver; and his aunt Eleanor "Ching" LaFave.
