He was predeceased by: his parents, Leonard Charles DeFoe Sr. and Edith Peterson; and his siblings, Terry A. DeFoe, Melvin J. DeFoe and Cheryl L. DeFoe.

He is survived by: his daughters, Amanda Lee DeFoe, Nancy Marie DeFoe and Susan O'Leary; and his siblings, Reggie DeFoe, Ricky W. DeFoe, Michael D. DeFoe, Cindy Lee DeFoe and Violet Reynolds. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
