He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Bates and Verda Bates; his wives, Lillian and Kay; and his sons, Terry and Scott.
He is survived by: his son Gary (Beth); his daughter-in-law Lauri; and his grandchildren, Nicki, Amber and Garrett. He is also survived by many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church (1705 Wilson Ave, Cloquet, MN 55720). A memorial service was held on Saturday, December 21st 2024 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
